High-Tech Nursing

This article is about a little boy named Michael Higgins. He is eight years old and he lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. He goes to school at Cherokee Elementary school where he collapsed when he was walking to his classroom. He heart stop beating and stop breathing in the hall ways. That’s when a teacher saw him and sends a student to go get Musser and also call 911. Musser is a registered nurse she used a high tech device to restart his heart. She shocks him in the chest with the two pads. After she shocks him, he started to breath again. The high tool she uses is a high tech tool that is called automated external defibrillator, or AED. Paul Smith trained RN from Colleyville, Texas. He makes and talks about high tech devices like endoscopic vein harvesting. It is use normally by surgeons by removing large vein in the leg also reroute blood around a blocked artery in the heart. Student nurses have to use high tech mannequins before they can care for there patients. They use tools like SimMan it is a full body mannequin that has like real heartbeats, pulses and breathe sounds. Students practice on saving lives on SimMan.
